A child of 10 years old aimed from endocrinologist for thyroid ultrasound.
At ultrasound in the left lobe of the thyroid gland visualized a structure which in some views simulates colloid nodule, but is actually a vessel at CFM, in the PW doppler mode there is a venous blood flow spectrum. The vessel has a ring-shaped course through the left lobe of the thyroid gland from the internal jugular vein to the area of the common carotid artery, decreased in diameter a few minutes after the the study was begun (an adaptation of blood flow from orthostasis to the supine position) - presumably the abnormal veins, phlebectasia.
