Premature kid in the ICU of the Children's City Clinical Hospital with a diagnosis of duodenal atresia , after surgery, with imposed duodenoanastomosis, was referred to the follow-up ultrasound of the abdominal cavity for free fluid and air and to the X-ray.
On ultrasound in the subhepatic-suprarenal space multiple hyperechoic microinclusions with a reverberation artifact are visualized - free gas was suspected in the abdominal cavity, in the rest of the abdominal cavities are predominantly a reverberation effect.
X-rays also showed free gas and free fluid in the abdomen.
The surgeon was called for a consultation, the consistency of the duodenoanastomosis was tested by the introduction of physical solution through the gastric tube, ultrasound visualized the flow of fluid into the duodenum, the appearance of fluid in nearby tissues was not visualized, then the abdominal cavity was drained - a fluid with air bubbles was obtained through the drainage.
